As I was researching New York City’s Floral District, I discovered a florist named Max Schling. He was the first florist at the Plaza Hotel, and I began to wonder how and why he got there. The more I researched, the more images I found of his floral arrangements, along with details of his unique journey. I knew I wanted to share his story with you. I’m not a filmmaker—I’m a florist—but I created this video to tell the remarkable story of his creativity, cleverness, determination, and grit.
