Flower Delivery Boys Mug

$24.99
In the mid-1800s, young boys earned just 0.2 cents delivering flowers. Pictured here in Union Square Park—the site of New York’s second flower market—they would gather plants directly from local growers. During this era, many children living in poverty were forced to work to support their families. Some of these boys went on to become successful florists and growers. One of the youngest began his journey at just seven years old. His name was Charles Thorely, and he went on to become a millionaire by his twenties. He became New York's most sought-after florist for the top 200 wealthiest families of New York in the gilded Age.
